During the investigation of an armed robbery, detectives learned that a white Chevrolet S-10 had been referenced in connection with the incident. A subsequent inquiry traced the potential suspect to a local motel. Surveillance footage from the property showed the perpetrator being dropped off by an individual driving a white Chevrolet S-10 equipped with all-black wheels. Because of the camera’s distance, the vehicle’s registration could not be seen, and investigators sought to identify the driver as a possible lead to the perpetrator.

Using ForceMetrics Velocity™, a search for “Chevy S-10” was conducted and sorted by date. The most recent entry was a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) notice for a white Chevrolet S-10 reported stolen. The associated case file included an image within the Evidence tab. By accessing the photo through Evidence.com, investigators confirmed that the vehicle matched the one seen in the motel surveillance, noting the distinctive black wheels.

The report also listed the registered owner of the truck. Investigators contacted and interviewed the individual, developing critical information about the suspect. This information ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator involved in the robbery.

The Velocity™ Impact

By enabling a rapid search of relevant vehicles and providing immediate access to associated case files and evidence, the Velocity™ platform allowed investigators to quickly make a visual confirmation of the truck seen in surveillance footage. This efficiency not only helped identify the vehicle’s owner promptly but also facilitated the development of timely suspect information, ultimately contributing to a successful arrest in the case.
